Darren consults globally on executive corporate applications of neuroscience in both business and high-performance sport. He is a senior brain coach, a neuro-wellness facilitator for Neurozone Global and speaks on pertinent health matters linked to behavioural economics. In addition, he is a practising emergency physician at one of South Africa’s leading cardiac units. Darren is an authority on health and wellness and in the media and at national sporting events. Director & Portfolio Manager: Allan Gray
Duncan joined Allan Gray in 2001 and has been managing a portion of client equity and the balanced portfolios since January 2005, when he was appointed as a portfolio manager. He currently is a director at Allan Gray Group (Pty) Ltd. Duncan holds an Honours degree in Business Science and Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. He is a CFA® and CMT® charterholder.
CIO: Marriott
Duggan has been in the investments industry since 2006. He leads the investment team and is responsible for both primary and secondary research in the securities market, as well as monitoring broad macro-economic variables. Duggan is a member of the Investment Analysts’ Society of Southern Africa. He has a BBA (Honours) degree, an Honours degree in Strategic Management, is a CFA®, and holds an MBA.

Eben joined Matrix Fund Managers in 2012 and became CEO in 2016. He has been working in the financial industry since 1998, having started his career at Investment Solutions (Alexander Forbes Investments). Eben has been involved in various investment roles in South Africa and offshore including multi management, risk analyst, system development, derivative structuring and portfolio management. He currently runs the business development effort at Matrix and is a member of the investment committee that manages various multi-asset funds. Eben studied actuarial science and is a CFA® charterholder.
Managing Director: CoreShares
Gareth is the managing director of CoreShares, a leading South African passive investment management business, and he has led the business from inception. CoreShares manages a number of index funds and ETFs with a particular focus on Smart Beta. CoreShares follows an evidence-based investment philosophy. Gareth obtained an MBA from Wits Business School and has over 16 years' financial services experience across structured finance, investment management and banking.
Assistant Portfolio Manager & Equity Analyst: PSG
Gustav joined PSG Asset Management in 2016 and was appointed as a fund manager in 2018. He performs research on local and global companies across multiple sectors. Prior to PSG, Gustav was part of the Global Emerging Markets team at the Old Mutual Investment Group, and he previously worked as an analyst and trainee portfolio manager with Electus Fund Managers.
Gustav obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Stellenbosch and an MBA at the same institution.

Jurie served as Sanlam’s head of broker distribution before being appointed as the managing director at Alexander Forbes Life, chief executive at Regent Insurance Group and an executive director at Imperial Holdings. He rejoined Sanlam in January 2016 and was appointed chief executive at Sanlam Personal Finance from 1 June 2017.
Jurie completed his Bachelor of Business Science degree at the University of Cape Town as a Sanlam bursary-holder and went on to qualify as an actuary and CFA® charterholder. He later completed an MBA as a Sloan Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Kevin has investment industry experience of more than 30 years. He joined then-Liberty Asset Management as an economic analyst in 2001. As Stanlib’s chief economist, he is responsible for domestic and global economic research and forecasts. Kevin also provides input into Stanlib’s asset allocation processes and provides relevant economic research for our fixed income, property and equity teams.
He joined Liberty Asset Management from JP Morgan Chase, where he was a member of their macroeconomic research team, providing economic research and analysis to the broader asset management industry in South Africa. Prior professional experience was built as a senior economist within the Nedcor group.
Kevin has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Economics from Wits University, specialising in International and Public Sector Finance. He is a widely sought-after media commentator, and has had a number of journal articles published, internationally as well as locally. From the mid-1990s to mid-2000s, Kevin lectured economics, part-time at Wits Business School.
CIO: Satrix
As CIO, Kingsley heads up the Satrix investment team which has unrivalled experience in index-tracking portfolio management and solutions and currently manages assets in the region of R90 billion.
Before joining Satrix in November 2017, Kingsley spent almost 10 years at Old Mutual Investment Group where he became the CIO of their indexation capability. He has vast experience in quantitative research, product development and index-tracking portfolio management, servicing South African and global institutional clients. Over his 20-year career, Kingsley has also held positions at Stanlib Asset Management and Merrill Lynch, which included positions in London and New York.
Kingsley holds an MBA in Finance from Wits Business School (with electives completed at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business), a Bachelor of Science (Honours, cum laude) degree in Computer Science as well as a Bachelor of Science degree (cum laude) in Mathematical Statistics.
Strategist: Investec
Michael joined Investec Asset Management as a strategist in December 2002. His current focus is understanding how the shift in the centre of economic gravity from West to East impacts the world of investment and in particular how it could open up new investment opportunities for Investec’s global client base.
He began his career working at Chase Manhattan Bank in the Middle East before joining Anglo American's corporate finance department in South Africa. Michael then worked in the London corporate finance department of NM Rothschild & Sons where his work had a strong natural resource emphasis. Michael also worked for HSBC-Equator Bank in Kenya for four years.
He then moved to Baring Asset Management in the UK as a director in their emerging markets department, where he was head of Africa and the Middle East as well as heading the natural resources sector. He also was portfolio manager for the Pan African Simba Fund. Michael obtained a PhD in Economics at the University of Cape Town. He also holds an MA in International Business and Law from the Fletcher School at Tufts and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Before being appointed to his current role as chief executive of Sanlam Investments in 2013, Nersan was the founding member and chief executive officer of the Sanlam Investments multi-manager business from 2002. Nersan was also head of the previous investment services sub-cluster, which included Sanlam Collective Investments, BlueInk Investments, Sanlam Investments Multi-Manager, Graviton Financial Partners and Graviton Wealth Management. He is a member of Sanlam Investments’ Executive Committee, where he has served since 2007.
Nersan is a CFA® and holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Electrical Engineering as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership from Oxford University.
Director: Abax
Omri manages the Sanlam Select Flexible Equity Fund and has 20 years of investment experience. He joined Abax in 2007 as an investment manager. Prior to joining Abax, Omri was the chief investment officer at Sanlam Investment Management, from 2003 to 2007. Before that, between 1998 and 2003, Omri was an investment analyst at Old Mutual Investment Group.
Executive Director: Granate
On 1 July 2019, Paul was appointed as the executive director at Granate Asset Management with more than 15 years’ experience in investments. Before Granate, he held various roles in PSG Capital, PSG Tanzanite and most recently was a fund manager at PSG Asset Management, focusing on multi-asset funds.
Paul obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Institutional Investments at the University of Stellenbosch and an Honours degree in Financial Risk Management at the same institution in 2002. He is a CFA® charterholder.
Head of Retail Distribution: Coronation
Peter joined Coronation in September 2011 as head of Retail Distribution. He is a member of the management committee of Coronation’s personal investments business and his key responsibility is to ensure exceptional client service through the dissemination of relevant information to the investment advice community. Prior to Coronation, he spent 12.5 years as a wealth manager for Investec and was a member of the exco of the newly-formed Wealth and Investment business. Peter has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Investment Management and is a CFP®.
Head of Global Equities (UK): Sanlam Investments
Pieter is the head of Global Equities at Sanlam Investments in the UK. He is the fund manager for institutional equity funds and segregated global equity mandates. He has built an investment team focusing on long-only, high-quality, global equity investing following a philosophy backed by the manager’s 11-year track record.
Pieter obtained an Honours degree in Accounting from the University of Stellenbosch in 1994 and became a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young a few years later. He joined the Stonehage Group in 1999 and managed a global equity fund and global equity mandates for institutions and high net worth individuals whilst serving on various operating boards within the Group.
Managing Director: Prudential
Pieter joined Prudential in 2015 as managing director of Prudential Unit Trusts and head of Retail. With 21 years’ industry experience, he is responsible for all aspects of the retail business in South Africa and Namibia. Prior to joining Prudential, Pieter served in a similar role at one of South Africa’s largest asset managers.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Mathematics and is a qualified actuary (holding a fellowship with the Institute of Actuaries in the UK and the Actuarial Society of South Africa). Pieter also completed the General Management Programme at Harvard Business School.

Rob has had a long-term fascination with investment markets and has been an active professional in this industry for the better part of three decades, having started his career at Momentum Asset Management. Rob left Momentum in 1991 to lead a private equity deal. In 2006, after grow lessSpaning the turnover and profits by 25% per annum for 15 years and joined Wally Gray at Rezco with the objective of establishing a consistently high-performing unit trust company. The first fund, the Rezco Value Trend Fund, was registered in 2004 and has won numerous best fund awards over that time.
