New Principal Officer

The Board of Trustees appoints a new, independent principal officer to the Personal Portfolios Retirement Funds.

In keeping with the FCSA’s directive on retirement funds’ principal officers’ appointments and fiduciary duties, and the criteria that underpin such office-bearers, we are pleased to welcome Johan Hein, as an independent principal officer with effect from 17 February 2021.

A former independent trustee of the Personal Portfolios Retirement Funds, Johan has in-depth knowledge and insight that will add immense value to his appointment. Johan has the necessary technical skills and qualifications to make a meaningful contribution to the deliberations of the Board of Trustees and the operations of the Funds. He has gained a wealth of experience over the years and has been employed by a service provider and as a fund official. He also has been appointed as Chairperson and Principal Officer of other retirement funds.

Until Johan’s appointment, Lize de la Harpe fulfilled the duties of Principal Officer of the Personal Portfolios Retirement Funds. However, as an employee at Glacier, her role as Principal Officer presents a potential conflict of interest. Glacier is committed to fulfilling all of its regulatory and compliance obligations, and consequently, the appointment of a new, independent principal officer was necessary.
